Dannielynn Birkhead, Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter, suffered from strabismus, commonly known as hypertropia or crossed eyes – a condition in which one eye turns inward.
Dannielynn’s father, Larry Birkhead, had been proactive in seeking medical assistance for his daughter, claiming that he had taken her to the doctor when she was a few months old.
“She has strabismus, which is a turning in of one of her eyes, and it’s something that we’ve been looking out for for a while,” Larry, her father, told Entertainment Tonight via People.
Strabismus, which affects up to 5% of all children, is defined as a vision problem in which a person cannot align both eyes simultaneously under typical circumstances.
Dannielynn’s strabismus has necessitated the adoption of an eye patch to treat the ailment. Larry took several steps to make Dannielynn feel more at comfortable with the procedure, including exposing her to a pirate doll and convincing her that wearing a patch is acceptable.
Larry went on to say, “I got her a little pirate doll to show her that people wear patches, and it’s okay.”
Larry expressed trepidation when addressing the possibility of surgery as a remedial option for strabismus owing to personal experiences with the loss of close ones during medical procedures.

After losing Anna, her son Daniel Wayne Smith, and his father, Larry was naturally hesitant to submit Dannielynn to surgery. Despite his reservations, he is committed to investigating all treatment options while keeping in mind the emotional toll that medical interventions might have.
In response to rumours about the impact of Anna’s drug addiction during pregnancy on Dannielynn’s illness, Larry disputed such assertions.
After consulting with experts, he stated that the opinions he obtained indicated that drug dependency was unlikely to be the cause of strabismus. Genetic variables, on the other hand, are seen to be a more credible explanation.
Larry had sought medical advice on his own initiative and had repeatedly questioned healthcare professionals about any links between Anna’s drugs and Dannielynn’s ailment, with the consensus being that a hereditary predisposition was more plausible.
Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter Dannielynn Birkhead is 17
Dannielynn was born in Nassau, Bahamas, on September 7, 2006. Her birth, first named as Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern, triggered a paternity fight between Howard K. Stern, whom Anna initially claimed to be the father, and Howard K. Stern.
Larry, on the other hand, contested that assertion and insisted on a DNA test to determine the truth. Unfortunately, Anna, Dannielynn’s mother, died of an accidental drug overdose on February 8, 2007, before the paternity issue could be resolved.

A DNA test in April 2007 proved Larry as Dannielynn’s biological father. Larry openly stated, “I’m the father,” in response to the results, expressing gratitude for the support he had received.
Stern was cooperative and hugged Larry outside the courts when the results were announced, showing a commitment to safeguarding Dannielynn’s best interests.

Anna Nicole Smith’s son Daniel Wayne Smith died 3 days after Dannielynn Birkhead’s birth
On January 22, 1985, Smith and her first husband, Billy Smith, gave birth to Dannielynn’s half-brother, Daniel Wayne Smith. After his parents divorced in 1987, he was reared in Texas by his mother and maternal grandmother, Virgie Arthur.
At the age of 16, he moved into the spotlight, appearing on his mother’s reality show, The Anna Nicole Show, and even acting in two of her films, Skyscraper and To The Limit.
Daniel’s life was tragically cut short at the age of 20 when he died on September 10, 2006, from a drug overdose involving methadone and antidepressants.
He died in his hospital room while seeing his mother, who had recently given birth to his half-sister, Dannielynn. He passed away three days after Dannielynn was born.
Anna Nicole Smith died months after her son
Anna Nicole Smith died on February 8, 2007, months after the death of her son, who died at the age of 39. At the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, she was unresponsive.
According to the subsequent inquiry undertaken by Broward County Medical Examiner Joshua Perper, the circumstances surrounding her death were complex and unsettling.
Anna’s bodyguard’s wife, who had emergency medical expertise, initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for 15 minutes before her husband took over.
The inquiry, which included Seminole police and independent forensic experts, ruled that her death was caused by “combined drug intoxication,” with chloral hydrate, a sleeping prescription, being the principal factor.
Notably, no illegal substances were found in her system, and the official investigation ruled out violence, suicide, or natural causes.
Perper’s thorough investigation shed light on the complicated cocktail of prescription medicines that contributed to Anna’s unintentional overdose. The sedative chloral hydrate proved to be a fatal combination when combined with benzodiazepines such as Klonopin, Ativan, Serax, and Valium.
The issue was worsened further by the addition of Benadryl and Topamax, both of which heightened the sedative effects of the core medicines.
Contrary to popular belief, methadone was only discovered in Smith’s bile, implying it was consumed days before her death and ruling it out as a significant factor.
The autopsy report revealed additional health concerns, such as abscesses on her buttocks, which were most likely caused by past injections of vitamin B12 and human growth hormone.
During the investigation, it was discovered that eight of the eleven medicines in Anna’s system, including chloral hydrate, were prescribed to Howard K. Stern, not her.
Furthermore, two prescriptions were credited to “Alex Katz,” and another was attributed to Dr. Khristine Eroshevich, Anna’s friend and psychiatrist. The funeral was held in the Bahamas on March 2, 2007.
