For more than thirty years, Clint and Lisa Hartman Black have been a couple.
The enduring country music duo got together backstage following one of Black’s 1990 New Year’s Eve performances. According to Lisa, “it was slow motion, like you see in the movies,” she said to PEOPLE in 2021. “There was something there.”
“I knew I was looking at somebody amazing,” said Clint. I had no prior knowledge of her. Her TV show was unknown to me. I was just like, “Wow,” as I stared into her eyes.
On October 20, 1991, they tied the knot in Texas. And their relationship is still going strong after all these years. In 2015, Clint also told PEOPLE that “the attraction is still there.” Now that we know what’s inside of her, she is even more stunning. Actress Lisa was a cast member of the popular television series Knots Landing. 2000 Malibu Road and Tabitha were two more television roles. In addition to her television work, Lisa has acted in several motion pictures, such as Flicka: Country Pride and Where The Boys Are.
She met Clint at his concert in 1990
In 1990, Lisa and Clint had a backstage meeting during one of his concerts in Houston, Texas.
Clint said to PEOPLE, “I didn’t know who she was, but as soon as I saw her standing there with those stunning blue eyes, I knew I wanted to see her again.”
The couple managed to make their dating work despite their hectic schedules. Lisa tells PEOPLE, “We were both really busy, so whenever we saw each other, we were exhausted.” However, when Clint paid her a visit on the set of her television film The Return of Eliot Ness in August 1991, things became more serious.
Lisa said, “He and I both had four days off, and they were the same four days.” “It seemed as though someone was observing from above and telling us that we should all get together.”

Clint revealed to PEOPLE that while working out in preparation for a show, he proposed to Lisa on the college track in Salt Lake City.
Lisa said, “We got to talking about life and how important we were to each other.” “Lie asked me to marry him, and I said yes—I think it was because I was on an endorphin high or something.”

According to Country Living, Lisa and Clint were married precisely ten months and twenty days after they first met. On Clint’s 180-acre Texas farm, they got married.
According to Lisa, “Once I met him and got to know him and then started learning about his music and all of that, and his poetry, I had to kind of forget about it when I was around him,” she stated. “You write all that stuff? I would find myself staring at him.” From where does it originate? ”
Clint was aware that she was “the one.” He said, “I knew intuitively that she could be trusted with my heart and my life.”

Lily Pearl Black, the couple’s only daughter, was born. The pair revealed to PEOPLE that Lisa and Clint both took a step back from their jobs, and Lily was born ten years after they were married.
“I remember seeing an interview with Billy Joel talking about what he missed being gone and the decision he made,” Clint stated to PEOPLE, “and he used the phrase, ‘I didn’t want to be Uncle Daddy,’ and that really had an impact on me.”

She inspires Clint’s songwriting
Clint has written songs about his relationship with Lisa ever since they got married, calling her the “biggest influence” in his life.
“Once we fell in love,” he stated to PEOPLE, “then any love song I wrote had to ring true to who we are.”
According to Country Living, two of the couple’s duets, “You Still Get to Me” and “Easy for Me to Say,” were influenced by Hartman Black. “When we got married, my capacity to feel deepened,” he stated. “I am guided by our marriage and who we are together. What would the two of us say in front of the rest of the world was the big question. It needed to be authentic to who we are.”
She’s also a singer
She has not only been an inspiration to music but has also performed with him on numerous songs, such as “When I Said I Do” from 1999.
Between the 1970s and the mid-1980s, Lisa recorded four pop-rock albums prior to her marriage.
“His career was so huge, and I had done my thing, and I just pretty much let it go,” she stated to PEOPLE.
Clint, though, adores her voice. “As soon as she opens her mouth and starts singing, it does something to me,” he told People. It brings me immense joy since I am aware of the amazing person hidden behind that voice.
They appeared on The Masked Singer together
The duo appeared on The Masked Singer in 2020 as Snow Owls. “I looked up at Lisa and I said, ‘Well, listen to this,'” Clint revealed to PEOPLE. We merely chuckled at the notion, but as soon as we exchanged glances, we realized that we would give it some serious thought. We had a serious conversation about it for about five minutes before we were allowed inside. It moved so quickly.”
Lisa continued, “We had never done anything like this, so we really leaned on each other.”
The pair also expressed their excitement. “As soon as we exchanged glances, we both said, ‘Yes,'” We were ecstatic once we committed,” Lisa told PEOPLE. After that, we simply made hundreds of Zoom calls and listened to music. It was a ton of fun.
They toured together
The couple’s tour, aptly named “Mostly Hits & the Mrs.,” took place in late 2022 and early 2023, and it featured their daughter Lily Pearl Black.
Clint explained to PEOPLE that the tour presented an opportunity to “continue to create something that we must be prepared for, go do, and enjoy.” This tour marks a new phase in my life. It’s enjoyable, thrilling, and demanding.
