DCI Ellis will return to solve more crimes! Channel 5 has decided to revive the British criminal drama series “Ellis” for a second season. The Cinemaholic attests to this. The filming will take place in Belfast, Northern Ireland, this spring. Paul Logue and Sian Ejiwunmi-Le Berre will be back as writers.
Ellis and Detective Chet Harper look into the disappearance of Rachel (Jade Matthew) and Oz (Tama Matheson), a newlywed couple from the town of Brindleton, in the season one finale. As the investigation continues, Rachel’s father and even her old bandmates are under suspicion. Things get more complicated as Ellis and Harper look for clues because of a severed hand, phones that have been discovered, and torn-up pictures.
At the end of the show, it is revealed that local chef Leo Braxton (Charlie de Melo) shot Rachel’s former bandmate Alex (Richard Sherwood) before throwing Oz into the river. Rachel drowned as she jumped to help Alex, but Alex managed to escape. Harper and Ellis are enjoying a drink at the end of the season when Ellis receives a text from her daughter Grace.
In Season 2, Ellis and Harper will likely come across more complex and interesting cases. Grace will probably show up as well. Ellis’s mother side and her strained relationship with her daughter will become clearer to us as a result. We might discover more about Harper’s personal life as well.
Andrew Gower and Sharon D. Clarke will undoubtedly return to their respective roles as DCI Ellis and DS Chet Harper. The only other actor most likely to return is Allison Harding, who plays ACC Leighton in Season 2. Since the crimes are spread over numerous towns, we can expect new guest cast members to show up and play interesting characters.
Belfast is the setting for the recent hit television series “Derry Girls” on Channel 4 and “Blue Lights” and “Hope Street” on BBC One.
