Jessica Simpson Receives Icon Award in Style at Fashion Event”

Jessica Simpson is dressed to impress!

On Wednesday night, the 43-year-old singer and designer mogul walked the red carpet at Footwear News’ 37th Annual Achievement Awards at Cipriani South Street in New York City.

Simpson looked stunning in a floor-length silver transparent gown. Tina Simpson, her mother, joined her on the red carpet.

Simpson received the Icon Award at the presentation for building “one of fashion’s longest-running success stories” – her billion-dollar namesake company, which encompasses 51 categories including apparel, shoes, accessories, beauty, and more.

“Her special blend of on-trend, accessible style has resonated with consumers of all ages since she founded her brand with mom, Tina, in 2005,” Footwear News noted in a news release announcing the event.

Simpson said she was “honoured” to receive the award from her industry peers in a statement shared exclusively with PEOPLE.

“I am honoured that my spirit has connected with people who need it in ways that are obvious and ways that are more subliminal,” he remarked. “The fact that Footwear News is bestowing that title on this gal from Texas helps to illuminate the path ahead.”

Simpson reflected on what it means to her to be an icon in a story for the journal. “An icon is someone who is not afraid to take risks,” the ex-reality star explained. “And, while their choices may not make sense in the moment, they are part of an enlightened understanding of the big picture.” It is someone who transcends time and space and defines a moment.”
Simpson made a daring decision when she reclaimed control of her design enterprise. She repurchased her company from partner Sequential Brands Group in 2021 and devoted herself to making the brand bigger and better than before.

Simpson told Footwear News that reclaiming control allows her and her team to appreciate each new triumph even more. “The most rewarding thing is knowing everything we do is now for us and our team,” she said. “Everything is being done. We’re making every investment, every effort, and every sacrifice. It’s for the sake of the brand.”

Simpson has been experimenting with fashion in different ways outside of her brand. She recently appeared in a TikTok video with influencer and podcaster Bunnie XO. The Dukes of Hazzard actress wore a formfitting leopard-print gown and a plethora of jewellery as she lip-synced to her own 2003 single “With You.”

Simpson and her friends had a stunning girls’ night out earlier this month. She showed off her evening look in an Instagram post, wearing a vampy red minidress with a black lace accent, black platform boots, and a feathery black handbag. “What is yours will find you when you least expect it,” she captioned the photo.

She gave a humorous homage to the Black Friday shopping custom — and promoted her brand — last week with a mirror selfie in which she was wearing a colourful patchwork trench coat. In the background of the photo, there were shelves of heels and boots.

“Black Friday @jessicasimpsonstyle shoooooeeeeessssss,” she stated in a tweet.
