Kim Kardashian Reveals the Secrets Behind Her Family’s Rise to Fame

Nobody is more startled than Kim Kardashian by the Kardashian-Jenner family’s powerful fame!

While reminiscing about her family’s early beginnings on Thursday’s season 4 finale of The Kardashians, the SKIMS founder, 43, expressed her surprise that her family had become such popular people.

The subject came up at the family’s celebration of Scott Disick’s 40th birthday, during which Kris Jenner made a toast recalling how she had known him for “most of [his] adult life.”

Kris, 68, told Scott, “You were literally here episode one, season one,” referring to their initial reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Scott, 40, responded, “I was like, ‘This show’s going nowhere!'”

Kim later delivered a toast to Scott, mentioning how she had known him for 19 years. Kim emphasised how Scott, who has three children with her sister Kourtney Kardashian Barker: Mason, 14, Penelope, 11, and Reign, 8, has “supported me through thick and thin” and been by her side “through every phase.”

“[Remember] when you were on the cover of Dog Fancy?” Scott made a joke, but Kim’s family swiftly explained that it was K9 Magazine.

“Anything for a cover!” Kim joked that she didn’t even like dogs in response.

When Scott mentioned how far she’d come and how she’s now a lawyer and Vogue cover model, Kim said quietly to the gathering, “Guys, we scammed the system.” We succeeded! Whatever it was, we figured it out and accomplished it! We worked very hard.”

“Scott’s my motivator,” Kim said later in a frank interview. ‘God, can you believe you accomplished it?’ he’ll constantly say. And I’m thinking, ‘I can’t, this is insane.’… We’re not supposed to be here, so how did we get up at this wonderful party? “How did we do it when we weren’t the cool kids?”

Kim and her family rose to prominence after the premiere of Keeping Up with the Kardashians on E! in October 2007. The show ended on June 10, 2021, after nearly 14 years and 20 seasons.

Kourtney & Khloé Take Miami/Kourtney & Kim Take Miami, Kourtney & Kim Take New York, Khloé & Lamar, Kourtney & Khloé Take the Hamptons, I Am Cait, Dash Dolls, Rob & Chyna, and Life of Kylie were all spinoffs of Keeping Up.

Despite being surprised by the success of her family’s reality programme, Kim previously said that celebrity was something she aspired to.

“Money was always the goal, but I was obsessively obsessed with fame, like, embarrassingly obsessed,” she admitted in an interview for the September 2019 cover of Vogue Arabia. “I agree that celebrity may be addictive. But my attention has moved.”

“Even in my darkest of times I don’t regret putting myself out there for the world to see,” she went on to say. “People have shared with me over the years how much it has helped them to feel less alone when dealing with their own adversity.”

The well-known actress said, “I love having a voice and I appreciate the platform that I have been given, even though I do wish I could have more privacy at times.”

Kim, who passed the baby bar test in December 2021, declared in April 2023 that she was comfortable with leaving reality television for good to pursue a career in law and criminal justice reform.

“I would be just as happy being an attorney full-time,” she stated at the TIME100 Summit.

The Kardashians season 4 may be watched in its entirety on Hulu.
