At last, all of the queens have arrived. All 14 queens are at last gathered in the Werk Room after enduring two segments of the split premiere, and it soon becomes apparent that these are some dodgy women. The Mother of All Balls was the queens’ first real elimination challenge this week. Each queen had to produce three ensembles for the runway, one of which had to be made out of menswear. Following 42 looks from the runway—some toots, some boots—a Rate-A-Queen twist, an opportunity to gain immunity, and the season’s first lip sync—our first queen was instructed to “sashay away.”
Here’s what happened in the third episode of Season 16:
Who was eliminated in the RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16 Episode 3?
Hershii LiqCour-Jete
This season’s “Porkchop Queen” is Miss Hershii LiqCour-Jete. Even though Hershii’s style was never her strong suit—as we all knew from the beginning—I thought she would be around longer, a la Heidi N Closet or Chi Chi DeVayne. But for Hershii, this week appeared to be the ideal storm. Although the Burnie Bee costume from the nursery rhyme worked nicely, her Mother Nature ensemble and her genuine off-the-rack slacks for the design contest look were difficult to overlook. Following her downfall with Geneva Karr and Mhi’ya Iman LePaige due to the Rate-A-Queen twist, Ru chose to save Mhi’ya, causing Hershii and Geneva to lip sync. In any case, Hershii had nowhere to run to when she was cornered with two powerful dancers.
Who won Episode 3 of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16?
Nymphia Wind
Nymphia Wind prevailed in the ball challenge even though she faced off against fashion heavyweights like Q and Dawn. Ru declared her the winner of the week even though she had been voted into the top spot using the Rate-A-Queen twist. Her tie outfit was what really won her over, even if her Little Boy Blue and Angelina Jolie appearances were amazing.
What is the Rate-A-Queen twist?
For the first two episodes of Season 16, RuPaul made a surprising decision by not designating which queens were the best and worst of the week. Instead, the scores were determined by ranking the other six queens in order of best to worst. The entire ranking order of the first two episodes was revealed in Episode 3. In order to determine the top three and bottom three of the week, Ru also made the decision to reinstate the twist for Episode 3, letting each queen rank each of the 13 competitors. After evaluating these six queens, the judges selected the winner and the bottom two. Even while it appears that this twist is finished for the season, I wouldn’t be shocked to see it return in a more regular capacity in the future. It functions effectively and adds precisely the appropriate amount of strategy and drama to the mix.
Which queens have immunity?
Plane Jane and Sapphira Cristal gained immunity in the first two episodes. We have a better understanding of how this twist will function thanks to this episode. The two immunity holders will have to choose whether or not to use their immunity before the judges in each episode. In that case, they can consume their potion and move on to the following week. If not, they’ll have to take the chance of getting removed. Although Ru told the queens they might use their immunity against another player, I find it difficult to imagine a situation in which a queen would do so. The potion’s shelf life will, however, have an expiration date that will be revealed later. In theory, Plane or Sapphira might utilize the potion to save a friend if they arrive during the final week of immunity and feel secure in their performance.
Which queens are left on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16?
After three episodes, our first queen has finally been lost. But thirteen are still in the running for the victory. They are as follows:
