Stars of The Carrie Diaries, like Austin Butler, Katie Findlay, and AnnaSophia Robb, have only gone on to achieve success after the show concluded.
The 2013 debut of the CW sitcom functioned as a prequel to Sarah Jessica Parker’s Sex and the City character Carrie Bradshaw. The six-season smash show on HBO, Sex and the City, was based on the best-selling book series by Candace Bushnell, which was inspired by her New York Observer column.
The Carrie Diaries tracked Carrie as she juggled her first internship in a metropolis setting with her high school suburban existence. 2014 saw the conclusion of the program’s two seasons on television.
The Carrie Diaries’ producer Amy B. Harris previously detailed how the writing team considered Sex and the City in order to craft a fresh story.
In 2013, Harris said to The Hollywood Reporter, “I had to tell a version of the story I thought I could write to for not just one episode but for many.” We discussed extensively whether or not to discuss Carrie’s father’s departure from the family in [Sex and the City], and we did bring it up once [on SATC]. The story felt more complicated than a parent moving out, so I didn’t think it was the correct version. Candace’s version of Carrie’s mother dying in the book resonated with me because it suggests that she has a positive relationship with her father and is therefore seeking a particular kind of man.
The characters were later redesigned once more for Max’s And Just Like That resurrection, which had its streaming service premiere in 2022.
