Don’t be upset—every star from The Masked Singer’s tenth season has been unveiled!
On Wednesday, the final four contestants, Cow, Donut, Gazelle, and Sea Queen, sang a group rendition of The Romantics’ “What I Like About You.”
Judge Jenny McCarthy said at the beginning of the show, “I have a feeling this is going to be one of the most amazing finales to date.”
It sounds like it could be “the most competitive final we’ve ever had,” according to panelist Robin Thicke.
Cow began by summarizing his experience as a Masked Singer in his clue packet. “I thought it’d be a super fun way to get my friends in the panel off my scent,” the farm animal explained when he decided on the cow outfit.
“Being here has challenged me in a whole new way, even though I’m used to wearing different hats,” Cow went on. “I had to completely relearn how to express myself, including my dancing and movement. It’s been amazing to assume this completely new identity since, at my level of popularity and notoriety, there are certain expectations and pressures to perform in a specific way.
Cow took on Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation.”
Jenny, 51, remarked afterward, “This has to be the biggest star we’ve ever had on.”
When asked to sum up his experience as a Masked Singer, Cow described it as “a dream come true” by host Nick Cannon.
The panel, which also included Nicole Scherzinger and Ken Jeong, speculated that Cow might be Taye Diggs, Billy Porter, Usher, or NE-YO.
Next to walk onto the stage was Gazelle.
In her clue package, Gazelle wrote, “It’s because of the loved one I lost that deer are really meaningful to me.” “However, I neglected to mention that I actually have a deer tattoo for that individual, complete with flowers sprouting from the antlers.”
Gazelle said her Masked Singer attire therefore “felt like fate.”
Gazelle remarked, “She feels like this alter ego of mine that I’ve been craving.”
Gazelle performed Snow Patrol’s “Chasing Cars.”
She remarked subsequently, “Being the Gazelle has helped me find my voice and my confidence in singing again and now I never want to stop.”
Options for Gazelle included Auli’i Cravalho, Leighton Meester, Camila Mendes, Gina Rodriguez, Ashley Tisdale, and Constance Wu.
Sea Queen then showed up in full royal regalia.
“It hasn’t been easy to wear this costume,” Sea Queen said in her clue packet. “Although I’m an experienced performer, I’m accustomed to being myself on stage. Learning new songs and choreography while sporting a huge mask has truly challenged me as an entertainer.”
Sea Queen said she felt “nervous again in a way that I haven’t in a long time” and that her outfit was “so claustrophobic.”
The underwater royal sang a cover of Fontella Bass’s “Rescue Me” before falling on stage and losing the microphone. With assistance from the Men in Black, Sea Queen stood back up and declared, “I did it on purpose.”
The 46-year-old Robin described the show as “entertaining times 10,” while Jenny described Sea Queen as “a legend.”
Sea Queen remarked of her time on the show, “It’s been amazing and, you know, I’ve been learning so much.” It’s really difficult. I believe that this show has improved me as an entertainer.”
The panel speculated that Erykah Badu, Macy Gray, Queen Latifah, Jennifer Lewis, or Niecy Nash could be Sea Queen.
Donut completed the line of performers. The confection stated that he appeared on The Masked Singer during “the lowest point in my life” in the clue packet that Donut received.
Donut said, “Becoming the Donut was what I needed to heal from my wife’s passing.” Since my wife and I used to go get doughnuts every Saturday morning after I made the coffee, I know she’s laughing hysterically at me dressed as a doughnut.
Joe Cocker’s “You Are So Beautiful to Me” was crooned by Donut.
Nicole, 45, said to Donut, “Watching you on this stage right now is truly an honor.”
Donut’s identity was suggested to be either John Schneider, Tom Jones, or Engelbert Humperdinck.
The studio audience was then given the opportunity to vote in the first round to choose which two participants would be eliminated. After tallying the ballots, Nick, 43, declared that Sea Queen will unveil her disguise first, trailed by Gazelle.
Macy Gray, the 56-year-old singer of “I Try,” was the judges’ choice when Sea Queen removed her monstrous mask.
However, Gazelle shocked everyone by revealing herself to be Janel Parrish from Pretty Little Liars.
Each of Cow and Donut had one more chance to show why they should have won. Donut went first, despite his accomplishments in the field, stating in his last clue packet that “most people don’t know that I love to sing.”
The delightful confection served as Dobie Gray’s farewell song, preceding “Drift Away.”
Nick questioned Donut about what it would mean to win The Masked Singer after they had wrapped.
“Winning would give me great, great joy, and God knows that I could really, really use a little joy in my life right now,” Donut retorted.
Cow acknowledged in his closing statement that he still didn’t feel like he had his big break.
“Despite winning Grammy awards, I’ve never had the opportunity to have my moment broadcast on television, deliver my acceptance speech, and most importantly, acknowledge my mother—the person who made it all possible,” Cow said in his last clue package.
Cow reworked Rihanna’s song “Take a Bow.”
Nick declared, “We have a superstar here.”
Winning The Masked Singer, according to Cow, would be “the icing on a very beautiful cake.”
Following an additional voting round by the judges and studio audience, Nick declared that Cow would, in fact, win The Masked Singer and have his cake and eat it too.
“I feel fantastic!” Cow declared victory.
However, Donut, the runner-up, had to reveal his identity before Cow could unmask.
Donut emerged from his deep-fried, frosting-coated mask to expose himself as John Schneider, the actor from Dukes of Hazzard. The 63-year-old actor sang “Hooked on a Feeling” one last time before his wife Alicia passed away in February from breast cancer.
Nicole and Robin correctly predicted that 44-year-old “So Sick” singer NE-YO would be hidden beneath the Cow disguise.
Nicole chuckled, saying, “He fooled me!”
Hulu is offering streaming for The Masked Singer.
