Abby Champion, Patrick Schwarzenegger’s longterm girlfriend, is engaged.
After more than eight years with Champion, the oldest son of ex-couples Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver formally confirmed his engagement in December 2023.
The couple shared pictures from the emotional proposal on Instagram at the time, captioning the post, “💍❤️FOREVER AND EVER ❤️💍.” In front of a sea of rose petals on a seashore, Schwarzenegger got down on one knee.
After the news of the proposal broke, Schwarzenegger posted a vintage photo of himself with Champion on his Instagram Story, writing, “She said yes.” Nine years prior. Two young children falling in love.
Although Champion and Schwarzenegger began dating in 2015, Us Weekly didn’t officially acknowledge their relationship until the following year. In March 2016, a source told Us that the couple had been dating for “a while.”
They were first seen together at The Nice Guy, a popular restaurant in West Hollywood. In their early dating days, Champion also went to a party for Schwarzenegger’s mother.
Schwarzenegger said of their hectic schedules, “I think we stay in touch obviously through FaceTime and calls… but it’s really not hard,” to E! News in September 2019. We are able to truly enjoy and cherish the time we have together because we are apart so frequently. We are able to enjoy amazing weekends together because she travels most weekends and I am generally really busy with work during the week.
Years later, when discussing his relationship with his other half, Schwarzenegger still had wonderful things to say about them.
In November 2022, the actor told E!, “She’s such a good girl.” She is devoted, focused, and a hard worker. She relocated from Alabama in order to fulfill her ambition of being a supermodel. She’s excellent.
