Once more, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are refuting rumors of infidelity in their union.
The Red Table Talk presenter, 52, said in a sneak peek of an interview with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club on Wednesday that she and her spouse will file a lawsuit over allegations made by an alleged associate that Smith, 55, had an affair with fellow actor Duane Martin.
Radio presenter Charlamagne tha God brought up Pinkett Smith’s “No Soccer Mom” chapter, in which she confronts allegations that have dogged her marriage—the couple has been married since 1997—about being swingers or gay, during their discussion of her new memoir Worthy.
The Girls Trip actress was questioned by Charlamagne in 2023 how it feels to have some of “those same rumors out about people you love like Will and Duane” still circulating. DJ Envy, the co-host of Breakfast Club, continued, saying that the rumor about Smith and Martin “just came out.”
“All I have to say is this,” Pinkett Smith started. “I know it’s absurd, right? And it is absurd.
In a recent interview with Unwine With Tasha K on Wednesday, a man going by the name of Brother Bilal claimed that he had witnessed Smith and Martin, 58, having sex years prior.
Pinkett Smith criticized Bilal by saying, “And this is a person that tried a shakedown, a money shakedown that didn’t work.”
“We intend to pursue legal action,” she declared. “Because having an opinion about someone is one thing, but fabricating vile, scandalous tales is quite another.” That makes it actionable. So let’s just get started.
As the conversation with Breakfast Club went on, Pinkett Smith insisted that the accusations were “not true.”
The actress from Madagascar claims that Bilal had previously collaborated with Smith on a book and believed he was underpaid for his work.
The premise of it all revolves around this person’s belief that they were conducting business related to Will’s book in some capacity, that they used funds or other resources, and that they ought to be paid. He has attempted to pull off this financial swindle already, she said.
Will was prepared to give him a certain sum, but he declined. Thus, that is the foundation of the entire scenario.
Pinkett Smith stated, “Like I told you, we ’bout to take legal action,” even though she was unsure of the specifics of the purported business arrangement between Smith and Bilal.
Regarding Bilal’s allegations, a representative for Smith told PEOPLE, “This story is completely fabricated and the claim is unequivocally false.”
According to a person close to the Smith family, “They’ve spent years dealing with and ignoring homophobic rumors and innuendo.” Jada and Will agree that this is just another someone attempting to capitalize on their notoriety for personal gain. They intend to sue him.
On Thursday, Pinkett Smith’s whole conversation with Breakfast Club will air.
