“Witness the Extraordinary Love Story of Rick and Michonne in ‘The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live’ Sneak Peek”

Following the series finale of Fear the Walking Dead, AMC released a new trailer for the franchise’s upcoming spinoff series The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, which focuses on the series’ central star-crossed relationship. Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira anticipate a season full of peril and epic love as Rick and Michonne struggle to close the gap and finally define who they are and what they need to be in the post-apocalyptic world. The trailer also revealed that the pair will return to the domain of the undead on February 25.

“People are going ‘Where have you gone?'” Lincoln suggests starting the film with clips of Rick and Michonne getting by on their own. Fans have been wondering about that very subject since the series bid goodbye to the former sheriff’s deputy in Season 9 and subsequently saw him briefly reappear in the series finale before being taken away again. As Rick battles both the undead and the living alone, The Ones Who Live will endeavour to provide answers and more. Through flashes of the show’s new characters and action images, Gurira explains that their characters are most deadly when they are together. Throughout the show, their connection will be explored and defined, but it will always come down to “crazy love” between them.

While the broad premise and core themes of The Ones Who Live are clear, what happens in the horror spinoff series remains a mystery. Gurira is writing for the show and is recognised as a co-creator, working alongside executive producer and showrunner Scott M. Gimple. Pollyanna McIntosh, who returns as Jadis alongside Terry O’Quinn, Matt Jeffries, and Lesley-Ann Brandt, joins Gurira and Lincoln.

‘The Walking Dead’s Future Is Still Packed With Spinoffs

Continuing The Walking Dead universe after the main series ended has proven to be a profitable enterprise for AMC. Both the Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan-led (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) The Walking Dead: Dead City and Norman Reedus’ solo adventure – excluding Carol (Melissa McBride’s late cameo) – The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon received extensions for upcoming seasons as well as positive reviews and viewership. The Ones Who Live is a crucial series to nail since it returns to the character who started it all and is perhaps the apocalypse’s most capable survivor. At the very least, fans will have to wait until early next year to see if the star-crossed lovers are treated fairly in their single adventure.
