According to FOX35, WSVN, WESH, and Click Orlando, Den’Jah Moore, a mother from Florida, was stabbed 100 times with a knife before she was discovered dead in an apartment fire.
According to a recent arrest document, Moore suffered from severe burns and almost 100 knife wounds before being declared dead on the scene on November 21, FOX35 says.
In addition, the affidavit states that black smoke was coming from the windows and doors of Moore’s residence, which was completely engulfed in flames.
The affidavit states that the four burners on the kitchen stove were turned on along with a box on the stovetop and a lot of paper, according to WESH. According to WSVN, the Florida State Fire Marshall investigation concluded that the fire was intentionally set on two separate occasions and was of a criminal nature.
The 30-year-old woman and her three children were discovered inside the apartment at 1200 Belville Road in Daytona Beach on November 21, when police and firefighters were summoned to the scene, FOX35 reported.
The three children, a boy aged 10 months, a girl aged 4, and a girl aged 5, were brought to the hospital, where the boy eventually passed away, as reported by FOX35. According to WESH, the two elder kids are still in critical condition at the hospital.
Charles Ivy, 34, was charged on November 22. According to FOX35, he is accused of two first-degree murders, two counts of attempted felony murder, and arson.
Ivy was brought to the Ormond Beach Police Department, according to FOX35, where he confessed to the officers that he had visited Moore’s residence on November 21 at 11 p.m. According to the authorities, the fire broke out between 11:32 and 11:42 p.m.
Ivy then admitted to the police, per the affidavit, that he had remained at the victim’s apartment until 11:35 p.m. He allegedly stayed in the parking lot for another half hour after that, which would have put him there when the murders and arson occurred, according to the report, which is published by Click Orlando.
The fatal incident was the “most horrendous and horrific crime” Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young has “experienced throughout [his] entire career,” he stated during a press conference the day of Ivy’s arrest, according to WESH.
According to FOX35, Young stated during the press conference that he thought Ivy was the father of at least two of the children. Regarding the case, Young stated, “This is most definitely domestic in nature.”
When PEOPLE requested more information on Tuesday, officials from the Daytona Beach Police Department and the Florida State Fire Marshal did not immediately reply.
