According to WANF, the victim was discovered “at what appeared to be a back patio” and “appeared to have possibly sustained a gunshot wound to the head area.” Shania Green, an 18-year-old from Lawrenceville, Georgia, was later identified by investigators.
Following the gunshots, a neighbor told WANF that they witnessed “a bunch of kids trying to get into their cars and leave the subdivision”. The party was thrown by the homeowner’s son, and the homeowner wasn’t home when it happened, according to the outlet.
The public is being requested to get in touch with detectives if they have any pertinent information, however police have not yet named a suspect in the case.
Green’s aunt Sade Long launched a GoFundMe account, stating that she turned eighteen in November and was the mother of a boy who was seven months old. “She was thrilled to finally get to go out and hang out for a little,” according to Green, who long established the campaign to gather money for the “costs associated with her service and burial.”
“As our family waits to see what will happen next, we are making plans for what we know has to be done first. “There were no prior arrangements made in light of Shania’s unexpected passing,” her statement states.
Green was remembered by many as “a wonderful daughter, mother, sister, granddaughter, and niece who touched the lives of everyone around her.”
She was well-known for her laughing and her lovely, contagious grin. She had such a good energy with her wherever she went. She added, “Most days, you could find her spending time with family or lovingly caring for her 7-month-old son.”
The campaign has received more than 200 donations as of Wednesday, raising more than $9,000.
