Roy Battersby, Kate Beckinsale’s stepfather, passed away. She is in grief. He was eighty-seven.
The 50-year-old actress posted a note on Instagram on Tuesday, announcing that Battersby had passed away following “a brief period of illness.”
The statement that was uploaded on Beckinsale’s Instagram Story stated, “It is with great sorrow that the family of film and television director Roy Battersby announce the news of his recent death after a brief period of illness.”
“On January 10, 2024, in Los Angeles, surrounded by family, he quietly passed away at the age of 87. There will be a funeral in London; specifics will be provided.
Along with a sentimental comment, Beckinsale also posted a video and picture carousel of Battersby, who was the mother of her mother Judy Loe.
The Underworld star captioned the heartfelt photo, saying, “I have no words yet.” “I appreciate @katebeckinsale_slovakia2 creating this lovely creation. I gave it everything I had to fight for you. Oh Roy, I’m so sorry I didn’t win.

The carousel featured pictures of Beckinsale with her mother and other close relatives, as well as moments of sweetness that she shared with her stepfather. In the video footage, Battersby also talked candidly about his upbringing in the United Kingdom during World War II.
His most well-known work was directing British TV drama programs, such as Between the Lines, Inspector Morse, and A Touch of Frost.
After posting pictures of herself and her family members huddled around a hospital bed on January 9 while still sporting her silver Golden Globes gown, Beckinsale made her news.
She captioned the photo, “Golden Globes 2024 start to end @goldenglobes @cbstv,” giving the impression that she had hurried to the hospital after giving an award at the program.
The British actress appears to be browsing through her phone while perched on the side of the hospital bed, resting her extremely high platform heels from the Golden Globes, in one picture, while in another, she is seen eating a sandwich with a blanket on her lap.
She uploaded a lone black square on her account the next day.

In April, on the 87th anniversary of Battersby’s birth, Beckinsale honored him by referring to him as her “titan of all good things” and her “dearest Roy.”
She wrote as the Instagram post’s description, “You are now 87 and truly eminent and up for some ludicrous s— as well as being world master of Jungian magic and very good at explaining geographical contours to the reluctant.” “I adore you enormously. I consider myself very fortunate that even though you are older than the Pope, you will still wear a bra on your head for emergency amusement 💕💕. Happy birthday.
The previous month, Beckinsale paid tribute to her late father Richard Beckinsale, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 31 from a heart attack when she was only five years old.
With a video montage of her father’s photos, she stated, “March 19, 1979… Some years hit harder than others.” “Don’t waste a moment. Give your people a big hug 🖤🗤🗤.
