According to TMZ, Teyana Taylor has filed for divorce from Iman Shumpert after seven years of marriage. In September, the singer/actress acknowledged that they had been separated “for a while.”
According to the publication, legal documents filed in Georgia detail “the demise of their marriage” in great detail. This includes the disclosure of a 2022 divorce filing, which Taylor later withdrew. She is now requesting primary physical custody, as well as joint legal custody and child support for their two children.
In the documents, the A Thousand and One actress, 32, claims Shumpert, 33, was prone to “treating her cruelly and displaying extreme narcissistic behaviour throughout the majority of their marriage.” This included the one-time NBA champion “being extremely emotionally and mentally abusive towards her,” “cruel treatment and selfishness,” and smashing her Rolls-Royce only to flee the scene, dodging a second DUI arrest. She also claimed that Iman was jealous whenever she was in the spotlight, telling her not to work and then complaining that she wasn’t making enough money for their family.
Taylor claims she “intentionally dimmed her light for her husband to try to have a harmonious and peaceful marriage.” While she downplayed allegations of adultery in public earlier this autumn, saying, “to be 1000% clear, ‘infidelity’ ain’t one of the reasons for our departure,” TMZ says that cheating is a major factor in the divorce petition.
Shumpert and the K.T.S.E. singer began dating in 2013, then married in 2016.
Teyana Taylor broke the news to her Instagram fans in September, addressing cheating rumours in the process. “We are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children,” she stated in an email. “Most importantly we are FAMILY & in the 10yrs together, 7yrs married we ain’t ever played with or about THAT.”
