The insider claims that since his breakup from Paige was made public, Craig has been in a good mood and that the Southern Charm actor “has a lot of friends rallying around him.”
The insider continues, “He spent the last few days in Aspen, [Colorado], trying to get his mind off of things.” Conover is currently “trying to be around positive and fun people.”
According to the insider, the creator of Sewing Down South is “really focused on his businesses and that is keeping him busy” when he is not spending time with his close group.
In addition to working on Southern Charm, cohosting the “Pillows & Beer” podcast, and building the By The Way restaurant with friend Austen Kroll in late 2024, Conover currently owns two Sewing Down South locations: one in Nashville and one in Charleston.
Conover, who just put an end to rumors that he and DeSorbo had broken up, has had a wild few weeks. Conover confirmed that he and the 32-year-old Summer House star were “not broken up” at the time, telling E! News, “I don’t know where that came from, because we’re together, like, every week.”
On Monday, December 30, shortly after spending Christmas with their different families, DeSorbo revealed that she and Conover had broken up after three years of dating.
During her and Hannah Berner’s “Giggly Squad” podcast, DeSorbo revealed, “Craig and I have decided to no longer be together.” “I believe he loves me, and I love him.” I believe our friendship will endure.
“No one did anything,” she insisted. That was not a negative thing. Being able to express your feelings in real time and your goals for the future is, in my opinion, really powerful. I believe that both of us were simply acting very maturely and expressing what we wanted and didn’t want.
Conover and DeSorbo’s divergent perspectives on their future—Conover has previously stated that he wants children and to get married, while DeSorbo stated she wasn’t in a rush to do either—were acknowledged by Us at the time as a contributing factor in their breakup.
Craig had plans to pop the question to Paige and was prepared for the next phase. On Tuesday, December 31, a different insider exclusively told Us that he was “really pushing for the next steps and wanted to settle down with her,” adding that the physical barrier between the two was making it even more difficult to take that next step.
The source said that DeSorbo, who lives in New York City, had no desire to relocate to Charleston, where Conover resides. The source clarified, “Logistically, it was never going to work out long term.”
“Everyone is sad for them,” the insider said, adding that “many of their friends are not shocked” by the split.
After filming season 1 of Winter House in early 2021, the Bravo personalities became close, although their split is still raw. They started dating that summer, and throughout the following three years, audiences were able to see snippets of their romance on Summer House and Southern Charm.
The first insider tells Us that he and DeSorbo “haven’t cut all communication off yet” when it comes to Conover’s future plans.
The source claims that Conover “has said he definitely misses her” and that the breakup is being handled “maturely,” adding that it has been “a hard transition emotionally so far.”
