Being celibate and unmarried doesn’t bother Cheryl Burke.
The 40-year-old professional dancer discussed her reasons for choosing the new lifestyle after her divorce from Matthew Lawrence in February 2022 on the Wednesday, February 12 edition of iHeart Radio’s I Do, Part 2 podcast.
Burke said, “I’m not dating and I’m choosing not to date,” during the call. Her response to the question of whether her most recent date was “over three hundred and sixty-five” days was, “Oh, for sure.”
“I still find men attractive. However, that does not imply that they are deserving of me,” she continued.

In addition, the former Dancing with the Stars contestant describes herself as a “sober woman” who values “respecting and loving myself.”
Three years have passed since the former TV celebrity began her path toward celibacy, according to an August 2024 Instagram Reel.
“The problem is that I fall in love quickly after we have sex. I mean, this isn’t good, isn’t it? We are therefore resolving this. Burke said on the show, “We’re like, ‘Okay, well, maybe it doesn’t have to be so intense. “I am such an intense woman … it is what it is, it’s who I am.”
Burke claimed that although she once had a different perspective on sex, she has since come to the conclusion that “none of it is real.”
“The only thing that was real with whatever happened physically [is] that you allowed for it to happen,” she continued. “And I think a lot of that maybe back in the day when I would have casual maybe relationships or intimacy, it really just continued to chip away at my soul because at the end of the day, that says a lot about me.”
Burke also acknowledged that she had been “vulnerable enough” to be “truly intimate,” a topic she has discussed in treatment, because she was sexually abused as a youngster.
