Meghan, who was born and raised in Los Angeles and currently resides in Montecito, claimed that she and her 40-year-old husband Prince Harry saw “a community where all the homes were left in ashes” “about two or three weeks ago” while they were in Altadena, California.

The Eaton Fire, one of numerous wildfires that devastated the Los Angeles area in early January, claimed the houses of several Altadena residents.

She went on to say that she had met a mother at the time who was with her 15-year-old daughter assessing the damage to her house.

Meghan mentioned the teenager when she said, “This mom had found a couple of things, [and] as I was talking to her, I turned around and I saw this young woman.”

The Duchess of Sussex went on, “She lives there and her mom shared something with me, and she said that all she’d been looking for in her home was the T-shirt from the Billie Eilish concert that she had just gone to when they came back to see their house for the first time, which is when we were meeting them.”

The teenager had left the top in the dryer or washing machine during the family’s hasty evacuation.

“And of course they now see their home and their dryer and washing machine are ash,” Meghan clarified. They are no longer present.

Although the Duchess of Sussex acknowledged that she did not personally know the performer of “Birds of a Feather,” she thought about which of her friends and acquaintances might.

“So I said, ‘I don’t know Billie Eilish,'” she revealed. However, I’ll find a way to obtain this jersey for you. I then made a voice note and said, “Please, could someone get this voice note to Billie Eilish?” after thinking of everyone I knew. This is what I’m requesting.

Meghan flaunted what Eilish sent while sporting her own chic hoodie, which had the names of her and Harry’s two kids, Princess Lilibet, age three, and Prince Archie, age five, in cursive on the collar.

Meghan displayed merchandise with a variety of designs and remarked, “You guys, I don’t even know what all this stuff means but it’s signed for her.”

“Is that a thing?” she questioned, holding up a blue lunchbox with a gold star drawn on the front.

Meghan offered a “huge thank you [to] Billie Eilish” after making a joke about feeling “really old.”

She said, “This is going to mean so much to her,” and thanked Adam Levine, the vocalist of Maroon 5, and his wife, Behati Prinsloo, for helping to bring “this over the line.”

She concluded: “To everyone who is showing up for people in big and small ways to get through what’s happened in California. Simply put, I’m really grateful. I’m going to go send her mother an email right now. I just wanted to let you all know about that.

“Let’s continue to support those affected by the California wildfires,” Meghan wrote as the caption for her Instagram Reel. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this happen, but especially to our first responders, who are the true heroes of the community. Meghan, as always.

On January 10, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who reside approximately 90 miles north of Los Angeles, traveled to Pasadena to assist in distributing food and supplies to Eaton Fire victims. Additionally, they welcomed evacuees into their Montecito home and are assisting the community through their Archewell Foundation.

Meghan paid a quiet visit to the Altadena Teen Girls Fire Recovery group on January 13. The group was started by 14-year-old Avery Colvert to gather supplies for the adolescent girls who were impacted by the fire. Through Archewell, Meghan and Harry have provided support to the group.

Meghan postponed the premiere of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, which was originally scheduled on January 15, due to the ongoing destruction caused by the fire, which began on January 7. With Netflix’s help, the new release date is March 4.

“As we prioritize the needs of those affected by the wildfires in my home state of California, I am grateful to my partners at Netflix for their support in postponing the launch,” Meghan said in a statement.
