February 2025: Infidelity Movies to Watch on Prime

Some of the greatest artistic creations throughout history have been inspired by romantic relationships. Therefore, discussing scenarios in which these kinds of relationships go south is just more material for a dramatic story. Prime Video provides you with a range of choices in stories that examine a different aspect of love if you are fed up with the numerous romantic comedies available and would want to watch movies in which a character in a committed relationship searches for happiness elsewhere. Here are four movies that tell these kinds of tales.

Infidelity (2004)

A psychiatrist named Danielle finds herself creating two different lives—one with her husband Jim and another with a younger man named Miguel—in this TV movie. She is well aware that she cannot carry on in this manner, thus the question is which option she will select. Will her married life be dominated by her desire, or will it be the other way around? “Infidelity,” which was directed by Harry Winer, stars Cristián de la Fuente, Kyle Secor, and Kim Delaney. It is available to view here.

Infidelity (2020)

The plot of “Infidelity” centers on Lena and Tracy, estranged sisters who dislike one another and have a troubled past. Despite being in a loving marriage to Sergey, Lena is not sexually pleased because they do not have any physical touch. Lena makes every effort to communicate with her husband, but when she learns of his adultery, she becomes envious.

By the way, Sergey is having an affair with Lena’s sister Tracy. In order to get what she wants, Lena chooses to act independently and seduces Tracy’s husband. But neither sister has a happy ending to this complicated web of infidelity and deceit, as a horrifying event sends both families into a downward spiral. The movie is available here.

In Secret (2013)

“In Secret,” directed by Charlie Stratton, is based on the 2009 stage production of the same name by Neal Bell and the 1867 novel “Thérèse Raquin” by Émile Zola. The film, which is set in the 19th century and centers on Thérèse Raquin, who was forced into an unwelcome marriage to her cousin Camille by her aunt, is a conventional adultery drama whose power is found in its actors. However, Camille’s repressed sexual impulses are roused when her gorgeous friend Laurent LeClaire shows up, and the two start an affair. Unfortunately, they don’t have a good ending in a number of ways. This affair results in three deaths, all of which are tragic, as is frequently the case in romantic relationships. Isn’t it? The cast of “In Secret” includes Jessica Lange as Thérèse’s aunt, Oscar Isaac as Laurent LeClaire, Tom Felton as Camille Raquin, and Elizabeth Olsen as Thérèse Raquin. The movie is available to view here.

The Deep Blue Sea (2011)

This romantic drama, which stars Rachel Weisz, Tom Hiddleston, Ann Mitchell, and Simon Russell Beale, focuses on the romance between World War II Royal Air Force pilot Freddie Page, who is still dealing with the traumas of the war, and Hester Collyer, the younger wife of High Court judge Sir William Collyer. Given that the movie takes place in 1950, shortly after World War II ended, we witness Hester attempt suicide but fail. Then, through flashbacks, we witness her predicament: her marriage to Beale provided stability but lacked sexual intensity, while her romance with Freddie provided passion but no stability. Thus, she finds herself torn between the vast blue water and the devil. Terence Davies is the film’s director. It is available to view here.

Afterglow (1997)

“Afterglow” by Alan Rudolph examines a two-way love triangle and the mayhem it causes. We follow Jeffrey and Marianne and Lucky and Phyllis, two couples who are dissatisfied in their marriages. In the same way that Phyllis and the much younger Jeffrey have an affair, Lucky soon meets the considerably younger Marianne. Their personal issues, however, obstruct their newly discovered wants and result in an unexpected ending that is at least as moving as their initial stages. “Afterglow,” a sophisticated and intimate drama starring Nick Nolte, Julie Christie, Lara Flynn Boyle, and Jonny Lee Miller, explores the pain and guilt of adultery in the absence of commitment. The movie is available for viewing right here.

Gehraiyaan (2022)

“Gehraiyaan” centers on 30-year-old yoga instructor Alisha Khanna (Deepika Padukone), who finds it difficult to support her unemployed partner. She is also depressed since her work seems to be stagnating and suffers from extreme anxiety related to her mother’s suicide. But when all looks hopeless, her cousin Tia and Tia’s fiancé Zain show up to make her life better.

Alisha connects with Zain through their painful past and starts a covert affair with him, despite her joy at the unexpected and welcome shift. The remainder of the film follows Alisha as she battles to accept her choices, makes every effort to put things right, and ultimately comes to terms with the fact that one must live with the repercussions of one’s acts, no matter how sinister and painful they may be. The film is available for viewing here.

A Royal Affair (2012)

“A Royal Affair,” which was directed by Nikolaj Arcel, takes place in Denmark in the eighteenth century. It revolves around the affair between the mentally ill King Christian VII of Denmark’s wife, Caroline Matilda (Alicia Vikander) of Great Britain, and his royal advisor and physician, Johann Friedrich Struensee (Mads Mikkelsen). On the one side, Struensee implements a number of changes and gains more power over the King. His relationship with Matilda, however, intensifies. Can the couple stay together with a guillotine of revelation hanging over their heads? With strong performances and an engaging and moving storyline, “A Royal Affair” dramatizes events from a time in history where dogma blinded individuals more than love. It is available to view here.
