“We had a real typical but beautiful life full of love and full of activity,” he continued. And as time passed, I became retired. We were prepared and knew exactly what we wanted from our dream home.
On June 6, 2017, they closed on their ideal home after his wife Toni retired at the end of May 2017. From that point on, nothing went according to plan.
After becoming ill, Toni’s condition grew worse over the next three weeks. A bacterial disease affected her liver and kidneys.

He took her to the emergency room on July 7, 2017, and she died on July 15, 2017. “Every time I look at that lake, I think, ‘This is her dream,'” he added. She deserves this. Why am I the only one standing here?
He told People in September 2023 that he sold the lake house they had planned to retire to together after Toni passed away and enrolled in bereavement treatment, which he called “life-changing.”

The couple, who got engaged on the Golden Bachelor episode airing November 30, 2023, told People that they wanted to start their lives together in Charleston, South Carolina.
Turner asserted that their new home was possible because of fate. “It’s a notion I’ve dabbled with,” he added, “I’ve talked about moving to South Carolina when my family comes together for the last couple of years. Theresa responds, “Well, yeah, my son lives near Charleston in South Carolina,” during a private conversation.

Turner’s initial concern was that he wouldn’t get along with the person he ultimately lived with, but Nist didn’t cause him any problems.
“And all of a sudden, it seems like a major issue has disappeared,” he continued. “There is no longer a problem with compromising on things like where to live and how to get along with family members.”
It appears that following their marriage, they will carry out their intentions. They declared they will get married in a live, televised ceremony after getting engaged.
“We are going to get married, we’re going to do it as quickly as we can because, at our age, we don’t have a lot of time to waste,” Turner declared in the After the Final Rose special. We are getting married as soon as we can organize a wedding schedule!”
