Selena Gomez will soon release a new album!
On Thursday, February 13, the singer-actress shocked her fans by revealing that she and her fiancé Benny Blanco were working on a new album called I Said I Love You First. The record is the first collaboration between Gomez and Blanco as a relationship and is scheduled for release on Friday, March 21.
After dating for more than a year, the couple declared their engagement on Instagram in December 2024.
“I always trick you guys 🥰,” the Only Murders in the Building star posted on Instagram. On 3/21, my brand-new album, I Said I Love You First, featuring my closest friend @itsbennyblanco, will be available 🖤.
“Our first song, ‘Scared of Loving You,’ is now available on all streaming platforms,” the 32-year-old actress added. Pre-orders for the album’s merchandise and autographed items are now open. We are eager to share this unique idea with you in the near future.
The 36-year-old Blanco then kindly responded in the comment area, adding, “I love you baby.”
“Scared of Loving You,” the lead song from Gomez’s fourth studio album, was released on Thursday along with a visual lyric video.
Both Blanco and Finneas produced the new hit, which was written by the duo and eight-time Grammy winner Finneas.
According to the press announcement, the forthcoming album honors Gomez and Blanco’s romance and provides “fans a unique window into their relationship.”
“This album came together organically as a direct result of the comfort that they both felt when working together creatively, allowing them to produce art that authentically reflects their experiences,” according to the press release. “It chronicles their entire story—before they met, falling in love and looking to what the future holds.”
The two were musical partners prior to their engagement and upcoming record. “Kill Em with Kindness” and “Same Old Love,” two tracks on Gomez’s 2015 album Revival, were co-produced by Blanco.
Additionally, they worked together on the 2019 song “I Can’t Get Enough,” which featured J Balvin and Tainy. Gomez shared a scene with Blanco in the music video where he is dressed as a large teddy bear and she is wearing pajamas. August 2023 was the most recent time they collaborated on her song “Single Soon.”
The Emilia Perez actress stated that she was prepared for a new album in January 2024 during an interview with the SmartLess podcast. Gomez remarked, “I think I have one more album in me, but I would probably choose acting.”
“I’m going to feel like relaxing because I’m exhausted. I never actually meant to be a singer full-time; I wanted to be an actress instead,” she continued. “Apparently, that pastime evolved into something else.”
Blanco hinted on TikTok that he and Gomez were collaborating on new music in January 2025, just a year later.
